Aspen Joy Stead
After two days of getting to know our new sweet baby girl we have found, what we believe to be, the perfect name for her... Aspen Joy Stead!
I know, I know... that one was not even on the list. Well we tried all of the names on the list and they were just not working... so we went looking for more names... after trying several more names Paul by chance came upon a comment on a baby name web site that mentioned Aspen as a girl name. So he did some looking and it started to fit our little girl more and more.
So the name Aspen doesn't really have a meaning as a name... because it is the name of a tree. But we looked up what the Aspen tree symbolized and really liked what we found.
The Celtic meaning of the Aspen tree speaks of:
Focus, Purity, Awareness, Advantage, Transition, Opportunity,
Manipulation, Connectivity, Transformation.

The visual symbolism is manly focused on the softly heart shaped leaf of the aspen tree. Interestingly enough Baby Aspen's placenta was a soft heart shape... our midwives said that they don't see that very often.
(I hope that this picture doesn't make anyone uncomfortable. One of the greatest parts of having natural home birth is being able to observe and experience every part of birth... including this incredible organ that feeds and nourishes the baby for the almost year of growth and development within the womb.)
There are many other (Paul spent hours reading about aspen trees) powerful symbolisms for the beautiful Aspen tree, and we are excited to name our new beautiful little girl after such an amazing creation of our Heavenly Father!

It is beautiful! Hadley didn't have a name for about 2 days also. Finding a girl's name was way harder than our boys. Who knew?! She is beautiful.
Aspen is absolutely beautiful!!! I'm so excited that you, Paul and Emma to have this sweet new addition to the family. Isn't life amazing?!?
Congratulations Joslyn! We are so happy for you, and Aspen is a beautiful name!
